How to set up and use PPPoE internet connections in Windows 10

1. Start Menu

1. Please find the Start button in the lower, left-hand corner of the screen.

2. Right-click the Start button to open the Quick Access Menu. Then, click on Control Panel.

1. In the Control Panel window, under Network and Internet, click on View network status and tasks.

3. Network and Sharing Center

1. Under Change your networking settings, please click on Set up a new connection or network.

4. Set Up a Connection or Network

1. Under Choose a connection option, click on Connect to the Internet.

2. Please click on the Next button to proceed.

5. Connect to the Internet

1. If you see Do you want to use a connection that you already have?, please select the No, create a new connection option.

2. Please click on the Next button to proceed.

3. When asked How do you want to connect?, please click on Broadband (PPPoE).

6. Type the information from your Internet service provider (ISP)

1. Under the Type the information from your Internet service provider (ISP) section, please ① fill out the sections for User namePassword, and Connection name.

User nameEnter your Asahi Net connection user ID:
Asahi Net User ID@atson.net (e.g., [email protected], [email protected], [email protected])
PasswordEnter the Asahi Net password assigned to your Asahi Net User ID (Enter in lowercase (small) characters.)
Connection nameAsahi Net
  • ※ Please enter the user name and password in lowercase (small) characters.
  • ※ Please select Remember this password if you do not want to enter your connection password every time you try to connect.

2. Then, ② click on the Connect button.

7. Connecting to the Internet

1. After your User name and Password have been confirmed, it will try to connect you to the Internet.

2. A connection will be established once you see You are connected to the Internet.

3. Connection to the Internet should be completed. Please click on the Close button.

Please open a browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc) to confirm if your Internet connection has been established.

8. Reconnecting to the Internet

1. If you are ever disconnected, to connect to the Internet again, please go to the Network icon on the bottom, right-hand corner of the desktop.

It may look like this when the Internet is disconnected: 

2. Left-click the Network icon, then click on Asahi Net.

3. The NETWORK & INTERNET window will appear.

On the left-hand side, ① select Dial-up, ② select Asahi Net, and then ③ click on the Connect button to connect to the Internet again.

9. Disconnecting

1. To disconnect from the Internet, please go to the Network icon on the bottom, right-hand corner of the desktop.

It should appear like this while connected to the Internet: 

2. Left-click the Network icon, then click on Asahi Net.

3. On the left-hand side, ① select Dial-up, ② select Asahi Net, and then ③ click on the Disconnect button to disconnect from the Internet.
