Outlook error: Something is wrong with your data files

The Inbox Repair Tool (ScanPST) opens, appears to complete the file repair and yet, the error message won’t go away.

Outlook Error message
If you see this message once, it’s likely the data file needs repaired. If it comes up multiple times in a row, it may be a bug in Office Version 2005 Build 12827.20268 or higher.

Microsoft has a registry fix available for the bug

  1. Open the Registry editor by right-clicking on the Windows Start button and choosing Run or press Windows key + R to open the Run command.
  2. Type Regedit and press Enter
  3. Navigate to the registry path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\PST

Tip: You can copy the link and paste it in the address field at the top of the registry editor.
  4. Right click on and delete these two registry values, if they exist:
    LastCorruptStore
    PromptRepair
  5. Restart Outlook
